PlayStation 5 price increase is announced -Normal model is 60,478 yen including tax.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced its suggested retail price revision of PlayStation 5 in some countries and regions, including Japan.

The price revision in Japan will be conducted on Thursday, September 15, 2022, and will be 60,478 yen (tax included) for the Ultra HD Blu-ray disk drive, and 49,478 yen (tax included) for digital edition.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan said:

I think many people are facing difficulties due to recent global economic environments. With the rise in prices that are generated around the world and the unprecedented exchange trends, consumers and many industries have continued. Under the influence of this difficult economic situation, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is a part of the PLAYSTATION®5 retail prices in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Canada, and Japan. We have decided to revise it in the country and region. There is no change in the price in the United States.

Under the fact that various industries are forced to change in the current global economic environment, the SIE has decided to revise the price, taking into account the impact on our business. We will continue to prioritize the PS5 supply status in the future so that we can deliver the PS5 experience to as many people as possible, so we appreciate your understanding.

Thank you very much for your continuous support.
